What to Expect at Your First Telehealth Addiction Appointment
Your first Grata appointment is with the clinician who will treat you. Most appointments are available the same day. You can talk about what you use, how you are feeling, previous treatment, and whether your goal is reducing use or quitting.
Before your appointment
We ask for ID and insurance information before your first visit. Choose a private place and a phone, tablet, or computer with internet access. No app download, labs, or in-person visit is required before starting. Our video platform supports captions, and phone-only visits are possible in some cases.
Our care team can help with scheduling, coverage checks, and technology. Support is available seven days a week, 6 a.m.–11 p.m. Eastern.
During the visit
Your clinician reviews your history, current medication, symptoms, and goals. If medication such as buprenorphine/Suboxone or naltrexone is appropriate, your clinician can prescribe at that visit. An appointment does not guarantee a specific prescription.
If you already take Suboxone, tell us your current prescription and when you will need your next refill. The clinician will review your treatment and arrange the next steps with you.
After your visit
You keep the same prescribing clinician. Follow-ups can be weekly, every two weeks, or monthly depending on your situation. Therapy and peer support are optional for medication care. Individual therapy is also available without medication in Virginia and Ohio; Pennsylvania currently offers medication care without therapy.
Starting care at Grata

Bring your ID and insurance information to the intake process. We help with coverage checks, scheduling, technology, and pharmacy access. You keep the same prescribing clinician; follow-up frequency depends on your needs.
Medication delivery is available for first prescriptions and refills throughout Virginia, Ohio, and Pennsylvania in 1–2 business days from prescribing, with shipping covered. Local pharmacy pickup is also available. Medication charges are separate from clinician visit charges.
